Ypres Centenary Walks 2017
2015 saw the unveiling of the first WW1 war memorial for the South Ribble Borough. I worked on that project along with the council and other volunteers. The memorial park has extended since then into the grounds of St.Catherine's Hospice. We are also approaching the 100th anniversary of the Battles of Messines and Third Ypres. I have designed these walks to take in the memorials and cemeteries where the men from South Ribble rest and are remembered. The money raised will then go back to St.Catherine's Hospice as a thank you for all the help they gave us when building the memorial and for the great work they do in the community as a whole.
There are 8 walks in total and I will be undertaking them over several days. Each of the cemeteries and memorials listed have graves or memorials dedicated to our men. I intend to take photographs and publish them online as I go along.
