Memorials - Walton-le-Dale - Methodist Church Plaque

Trinity Methodist Church, Gregson Lane, Hoghton, PR5 0ED
OS Grid Reference - SD 59414 26403

IWM War Memorial Register - WM Ref 18675
War Memorials Online - WMO174864

Location incorrect on IWM War Memorial Register (4 May 2017)
Information on War Memorials Online was corrected by the author on 4 May 2017 to correct position of memorial and also to change name as it was showing as belonging to Trinity Church.

The memorial takes the shape of a brass plaque mounted upon a wooden board. It bears the names of eight local Walton-le-Dale men who died in the Great War, as well as the names of three men who died in World War two.

The memorial was originally sited in the Walton-le-Dale Methodist Church on Church Brow in Walton-le-Dale but was moved to Trinity Church in Hoghton when Methodist churches were reorganised in this area.

SOCIAL
The WFA was formed in 1980 to maintain interest in the First World War (1914-1918). We work to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of all, from all sides, on all Fronts: on land, at sea, in the air and on the Home Front. The WFA is non-political and does not seek to glorify war.
