A simple calvary stone cross on an ancient wayside base, the memorial used to stand further towards the junction of Potter Lane and Cuerdale Lane but has been moved after a number of traffic accidents in 1967, 1968, 1972, 1974 (twice), 1978 and 1988.  Repairs were effected each time.  The memorial was unveiled 1 June 1920 by Mrs Assheton and dedicated the same day by the Vicar of Higher Walton.
