At the time of publication, there are no details of when this window was commissioned or unveiled - although it is likely it was around the same time as the cross on Brownedge Green.  The window is situated in the eastern wall of the church.  The panel at the foot of the window shows a badly wounded soldier being given the last rites by an army chaplain.  The vision of the crucified Jesus is in the background.  Above this is a representation of St.George with his shield bearing a red cross slaying the dragon.  At the top there are two more holy figures.  The lettering at the foot of the glass asks the viewer to remember the men of Brownedge who lost their lives.
Pray for the Brownedge Sailors and Soldiers
who fought for & who died for their Country
in the Great War. 1914 to 1918.

SOCIAL
The WFA was formed in 1980 to maintain interest in the First World War (1914-1918). We work to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of all, from all sides, on all Fronts: on land, at sea, in the air and on the Home Front. The WFA is non-political and does not seek to glorify war.
